Tinubu Cracks Down On Northern Leaders Opposed To His Presidency

In a bid to cement his political hegemony, president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has reportedly launched a vicious manhunt for Northern leaders perceived to be enemies to his presidency.

The latest to fall to his political dagger is Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sources said that President Bola Tinubu has been having a running battle with Adamu before he was eventually booted out of office unceremoniously by the powers that be.

The former governor of Nasarawa State and some chieftains of the party (names withheld) from the North were accused of working against Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last election.

Adamu who wanted to avoid any form of humiliation, reportedly tendered his resignation when he got wind that two influential personalities around president Bola Tinubu had mobilised against him ahead of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party slated for today and Wednesday.

Though, a source has also denied a report that it was president Tinubu that directed Adamu to resign following their running battle.

But Jackson Ude, an investigative journalist has accused president Tinubu of blackmailing and forcing Abdullahi Adamu to resign as the chairman of the ruling party.

He said the removal of Adamu by Tinubu is a broader plan designed to fight Northern leaders who were antagonistic to his presidential ambition.

Ude said, “Bola Tinubu blackmailed and forced the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, to resign in his first step aimed at fighting Northern leaders who were antagonistic to his Presidential bid.

“Adamu has been having a battle with Tinubu. He was hinted of a plot to embarrass him so he resigned in a handwriting note to the President he handed Hope Uzodinma.

“Moment after he resigned, two bus loaded with EFCC operatives stormed his house to arrest him. Efforts to break into the house failed. They remained at the gate of the House for house, claiming they only needed minutes of the NWC meeting of the APC.

“The former governor of Nasarawa State who emerged as the national chairman at the party’s national convention held in March 2022, reportedly transmitted his resignation letter to the Presidential Villa, Abuja ahead of the return of President Bola Tinubu from the African Union (AU) meeting in Kenya.”
