The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, in Rivers State, Amb. Desmond Akawor has resigned from his position following his appointment as Federal Commissioner representing the state at the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
Akawor, in a letter sent to the acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum, expressed gratitude to the party for trusting him to steer its affairs in the state from 2020 to 2023.
The letter read in part; “After consultation with my leaders and family, I have accepted this opportunity to serve our country, which I consider as a national service. Consequently, I have resigned my position as the Rivers State Party Chairman of our great party – The PDP, and immediately handed over all duties to the Deputy Party Chairman – Hon. Aaron Chukwuemeka who has commenced action in this stead.”

tenure.”
