Abuja, January 22, 2023 – The Navy Board has given its nod to the promotions of 30 senior officers, including the Naval spokesman, Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, to the rank of Rear Admiral. In addition, 28 Captains have been elevated to the rank of Commodore, as officially disclosed in a statement by the Director of Information, Navy, Commodore Ayo-Vaughan, on Friday in Abuja.
According to the statement, Commodore Ayo-Vaughan outlined the distinguished list of officers who have ascended to the rank of Rear Admiral, including Commodores Adefemi Kayode, Kabir Mohammed, Gabriel Aligwe, Aliyu Gaya, Shehu Gombe, Godfrey Kwetishe, Robert Obeya, and Musa Katagum, among others.
Commodore Ayo-Vaughan also announced the promotion of Capt. Joseph Ake, albeit unto retirement, underscoring the diverse trajectories within the senior ranks of the Nigerian Navy.
The statement further delineated the newly promoted Commodores, naming Capt. Innocent Udoudoh, Mohammed Umaru, Iliya Abdu, Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, Reginald Adoki, Abimbola Agunbiade, Christian Akokota, Chukwuma Azuike, Adegoke Ebo, Innocent Ejiofor, and Tahir Ngada, among others.
However, Captains Hassan Dogara, Olajide Babalola, and Suleiman Idris were sent to voluntary retirement, signifying a transition phase within the navy’s senior leadership.
In his speech, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ogalla, conveyed heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the entire naval community. He urged the newly promoted officers to recommit themselves to the service of the nation and maintain unwavering loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
This announcement marks a pivotal moment in the Nigerian Navy’s leadership landscape, as these officers prepare to take on enhanced responsibilities in service to the nation.
