German Foreign Ministry Strongly Condemns North Korea’s Latest Missile Test

In response to the reported test of a medium-range ballistic missile by North Korea on 14 January, the German Federal Foreign Office has issued a stern condemnation, emphasizing the gravity of the situation and its implications for regional and global peace.

In a statement released by the German Foreign office spokesperson and sent to ChatNews TV, the German Foreign office stated, “We condemn North Korea’s illegal launch of a medium-range ballistic missile on 14 January in the strongest possible terms. It is worrying that North Korea is this year continuing its series of missile tests, which are contrary to international law, and is thereby threatening regional and international peace.”

Highlighting the severity of the violation, the statement underscores North Korea’s disregard for its obligations under relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. The missile launch is deemed a blatant threat not only to the security of neighboring nations but also to global stability.

The German government is urging North Korea to cease further missile tests, abide by international law, and engage in diplomatic dialogue. The statement encourages North Korea to accept the offers of dialogue from the United States and South Korea, emphasizing the necessity of serious negotiations for the dismantling of its nuclear and missile programs.

“We urge North Korea to refrain from further tests, to fulfill its obligations under international law, to accept the offers of dialogue put forward by the United States and South Korea, and to enter into serious negotiations on the dismantling of its nuclear and missile programs. North Korea is under an obligation to completely, verifiably, and irreversibly end its programs to develop weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles,” the spokesperson declared.

As the international community closely monitors the situation, the German government joins the call for diplomatic resolution and the upholding of global security norms.
