Nigerian authorities have dismissed the report claiming that the government of United Arab Emirates (UAE) has lifted the visa ban it imposed on Nigeria.
Recall that it was earlier reported that the Arab nation after a successful outcome of discussions between President Bola Tinubu and President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the visa restriction placed on Nigerian travelers was lifted.
According to the misleading report, the resumption took effect from March 4, 2024.
But President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga refuted the report in a post on his official X handle on Tuesday.
He said, “UAE has not resumed visa issuance to Nigerians. The document in circulation is not authorised either by the Nigerian government or the UAE.”
In October 2022, the UAE implemented a ban on citizens from over 20 African countries from entering its borders.
