As the Ramadan fast officially begins, President Bola Tinubu has urged affluent Nigerians to assist the less fortunate in society to alleviate their suffering. He made this call in Kano on Sunday while initiating the distribution of 140 truckloads of rice donated by Abdullahi Yari in his honor.
Accompanied by his Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, President Tinubu praised the generous donation. He noted that it was intended to aid those in need during this significant period. “All over the world, leadership belongs to more than one person. There is need to always help the vulnerable in the society,” he said.
He further stated, “Let us come together, unite as a country and forge ahead for a better Nigeria.” President Tinubu commended Mr. Yari for donating the 140 trucks of rice, labeled with his name and picture, for distribution to the less privileged. He also mentioned that the commodity would significantly ease the hardship many are facing at this time.
The president also called on Nigerians to pray for the unity, peace, and progress of the country during the holy month of Ramadan.
Earlier, the representative of Mr. Yari, Abubakar Danburam, revealed that the 140 trucks contained 50kg of 84,000 bags of rice. He stated that it would be distributed to at least 500,000 households in the North. He said that the gesture was to complement President Tinubu’s efforts of supporting the needy and other vulnerable people in society.
Mr. Yari urged Nigerians to pray for relief from the economic challenges plaguing the nation.
