May Day: Nigerians Suffering Hardship Under Tinubu — Shehu Sani

A former Senator who represented Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has said that Nigerian masses are experiencing unprecedented hardship under the current administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Mr Sani stated this on his X handle on Wednesday, while celebrating the annual May 1st workers day.

While lamenting the effects of the current situation, the former lawmaker and governorship aspirant said the country would find itself in a tragic situation when mass suffering has become the destination.

“Happy May Day to the Nigerian Workers.The masses of the people are experiencing an unprecedented hardship in their lives.

“When suffering is a journey, it’s necessary. When suffering becomes the destination,it’s a tragedy”, Mr Sani wrote.

Meanwhile, ahead of the Workers Day celebration, the President had approved a 25 percent and 35 percent salary increase for civil servants on the remaining six consolidated salary structures.

A statement issued by the head of press at the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission, NSIWC, Emmanuel Njoku, said the government also approved increases in pensions of between 20 percent and 28 percent for pensioners on the defined benefits scheme.

“The Federal Government has approved an increase of between 25 percent and 35 per cent in salary increase for civil servants on the remaining six consolidated salary structures.

”They include consolidated public service salary structure (CONPSS), consolidated research and allied institutions salary structure [CONRAISS], and consolidated police salary structure, [CONPOSS].

“Others are: Consolidated Par -amilitary Salary Structure [CONPASS], Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure [CONICCS], and Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure [CONAFSS].

He said the increases will take effect from January 1.
