The funeral service honoring the life of Nollywood actor John Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope, has officially commenced at St. Peter’s Catholic Parish in Ukehe, Enugu State. The beloved actor, aged 43, tragically lost his life on April 10, 2024, in a fatal boat mishap that also claimed the lives of four others.
The tragic incident occurred as Junior Pope and his colleagues were returning from a movie set when their boat capsized in the Anam River, Anambra State.
In a heartfelt tribute, Junior Pope’s family announced that his final resting place would be in his hometown of Uwala Abaka, Ukehe, located in the Nsukka area of Enugu State. The family expressed their deep sorrow and appreciation for the outpouring of support from fans and colleagues in the film industry.
The somber service at St. Peter’s Catholic Parish was attended by a large number of mourners, including family, friends, and fellow actors who gathered to pay their respects to the late actor.
