A pan-Nigeria group, Coalition of Nigerian Progressives, CNP, has disclosed that in the the history of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPCL, no leader has transformed the company into a transparent, accountable entity than the present Group Chief Executive Officer, GCEO, Mele Kyari.
The CNP convener, Abdulrahman Sade, made the disclosure while addressing a press conference in reaction to the recent call for the sack of the NNPCL boss.
According to him, Mr Kyari’s tenure has been marked by strategic investments which have given a boost to Nigeria’s oil and gas production capacity.
He said: “It is no longer news that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) has been under a storm in recent times, with scores of Nigerians chiding the leadership of the company.
“We at the Coalition of Nigerian Progressives (CNP), which is being led by my humble self, Abdulrahman Sade, after our vigorous investigations, come out boldly to sensitize Nigerians that given the history of the NNPCL, the present leadership of the organisation, which is being led by Mele Kyari, should rather be commended for its achievements instead of facing storms.
“Kyari’s tenure has been marked by strategic investments which have given a boost to Nigeria’s oil and gas production capacity, and this has been enhancing national development.
“The NNPCL GCEO has transformed the company into a more transparent and accountable entity, and we all know how crucial his efforts to the nation’s progress.”
Mr Sade added that with Mr Kyari’s visionary leadership, Nigeria is now seeing an increase in national crude oil reserves towards the 40 billion barrels target.
“Therefore, CNP calls on Nigerians to continue to support the leadership of NNPCL, so that the oil sector which every Nigerian dreams of can be achieved,” he added.
