Governor Abba K. Yusuf of Kano State has categorically denied any knowledge of a purported contract awarded for the supply of medical drugs to the state’s 44 Local Government Councils (LGAs).
This was disclosed in a statement jointly signed by the Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, and the Director General of Media and Publicity to the Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Sunday Morning.
Governor Yusuf, in his response to the allegations, expressed concern over the reports and has directed the Executive Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) to launch an immediate investigation. The Governor has tasked the PCACC to thoroughly examine the claims and report its findings for further necessary action.
“Governor Yusuf has no knowledge of such a contract being awarded. The directive for a swift investigation underscores his commitment to transparency and accountability in governance,” the statement read.
The Governor also appealed to the people of Kano State to remain patient while awaiting the outcome of the investigation. He assured them that appropriate measures will be taken based on the findings.
