CAF Reschedules Match Between FC 15 de Agosto and AS Otoho

The eagerly anticipated TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup Preliminary Round fixture between FC 15 de Agosto de Akonibe of Equatorial Guinea and Association Sportive Otohô of Congo, originally slated for Saturday, August 17, 2024, was unexpectedly postponed. The match, set to be a crucial encounter, was halted after an official report was submitted to the CAF Interclub Committee, necessitating immediate changes to the fixture.

In a decisive move, CAF announced that both legs of the match will now take place in Congo Brazzaville. The first leg, Match No. 31, where FC 15 de Agosto was to host, has been rescheduled to Sunday, August 25, 2024. However, it will be played behind closed doors due to logistical concerns. In an unusual turn of events, FC 15 de Agosto will bear full responsibility for all organizational costs associated with this leg.

The second leg, Match No. 32, will follow just two or three days later. Unlike the first, this match will allow spectators, with AS Otoho assuming responsibility for its organization. The tight scheduling and relocation of the match add an unexpected layer of complexity to this preliminary round.

A CAF official commented on the matter, stating, “The decision to reschedule and relocate the match was made in the best interest of all parties involved, ensuring that the competition proceeds smoothly despite unforeseen challenges.”
