The Labour Party (LP) secured a surprise victory in the Bogoro councillorship election held in Lusa B Ward, Bauchi State, despite not having an official candidate. The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) subsequently declared Lucy Ahmadu Yusuf of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who came in second place, as the winner and newly elected councillor representing Lusa B Ward.
At the Bogoro collation centre, returning officer Daniel Gambo announced that the Labour Party, astonishingly, led the vote count with 2,200 votes. This unexpected result left PDP’s Lucy Ahmadu Yusuf just behind with 2,168 votes, prompting BSIEC to declare her the official winner due to the LP’s lack of a candidate.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mbam Masoyi, finished a distant third with only 275 votes, further underscoring the unusual dynamics of this election.
