You Bought N995m Escalade But Want Nigerians To Endure Hunger – Charly Boy Slams Tinubu

Veteran singer and activist Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has openly criticized President Bola Tinubu for what he describes as excessive and wasteful spending in the face of Nigeria’s economic challenges. Charly Boy’s criticism follows reports of the president’s recent use of a nearly billion-Naira Cadillac Escalade during an official trip, which has sparked controversy on social media.

Chatnewstv reported that President Tinubu traveled to Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, for a three-day official visit, opting for an armoured Cadillac Escalade, a vehicle that is seen as a symbol of luxury. This choice has drawn sharp criticism, particularly as the nation grapples with a severely devalued Naira and an escalating cost of living crisis.

Taking to his Instagram page on Sunday night, Charly Boy expressed his dismay at what he perceives as the administration’s disregard for the struggles of ordinary Nigerians. He questioned the rationale behind such extravagant expenses at a time when citizens are being urged to tighten their belts.

“Why should our President be riding around in a Cadillac Escalade worth almost a billion Naira while the country suffers? Previous presidents used a Mercedes Maybach S Class, which is also a luxury car, but certainly not as ostentatious as this,” Charly Boy wrote.
