Secretary Blinken and Senegalese President Faye Discuss Economic Growth, Security in New York Meeting

NEW YORK (ChatnewsTV) — U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye on Tuesday to discuss shared commitments to democratic values, regional security, and economic development, according to a readout from the U.S. State Department.

During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, President Faye outlined his vision for Senegal’s development, focusing on youth economic empowerment and food security. He emphasized his government’s efforts to create new opportunities for young people while ensuring the country’s food supply is robust and sustainable.

“President Faye briefed the Secretary on his plans to boost economic opportunities for youth and strengthen food security in Senegal,” said State Department Spokesperson Matt Miller in a statement. “He also highlighted his work with regional partners to combat terrorism in West Africa.”

Secretary Blinken reaffirmed the United States’ support for Senegal’s development goals, stressing that Washington stands by the Senegalese people as they work to build a more prosperous and secure future.

“The United States is committed to supporting Senegal’s efforts to promote peace, security, and economic growth,” Blinken stated. He further praised Senegal’s leadership in addressing regional challenges, including terrorism and instability in West Africa.
