Okhiria Retires As NRC Managing Director, Hands Over To Acting MD

The outgone Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, Freeborn Okhiria, has handed over power to an acting managing director, urging NRC staff to co-operate with him.

Mr Okhiria completed his second four-year tenure on October 18.

This is contained in a statement signed by Yakub Mahmood, Deputy Director of Public Relations, NRC, and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Lagos.

Mr Okhiria handed over to the most senior director in the corporation, Ben Iloanusi, who is the NRC Acting Managing Director.

He commended the management and staff of the corporation for their cooperation and understanding during his tenure.

Mr Okhiria said that the cooperation helped his administration to succeed.

“I enjoin the management and staff of the corporation to extend same co-operation and understanding to the acting managing director,” he said.

Responding, Mr Iloanusi solicited the cooperation and support of the staff of NRC.

He said that he would accommodate advice and constructive criticism that would advance the corporation.

Mr Iloanusi had been NRC’s Director of Procurement.

He is a graduate of political science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and holds an MBA in international management from the South Bank University, London.

Mr Iloanusi joined the NRC in 2011 as the Deputy Director of Procurement and rose to the post of the Director of Procurement in 2019.
