The Anambra State Government has condemned the recent cult-related killings in Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area, which claimed several lives on October 20, 2024. The government expressed its deep sympathy to the families of the victims and vowed to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, the government reiterated its commitment to ending the wave of violent crimes linked to cultism in the state.

“The government sympathises with the families of the deceased and assures them that we will get to the root of this incident and bring the perpetrators to book,” the statement read.

The government called on members of the public to provide any useful information that could lead to the arrest of the killers, assuring that all information would be treated with strict confidentiality. A substantial reward has been promised to anyone who volunteers such information.

“To this end, the government appeals to members of the public to avail it of any useful information that will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators, while assuring them of confidentiality and a handsome reward,” the statement continued.

Law-abiding residents of Anambra State were also advised to continue their daily activities without fear, as the government collaborates with security agencies to address the situation.
