Morocco and Estonia Pledge to Strengthen Bilateral Ties, Expand Cooperation Across Key Sectors

RABAT, Morocco (ChatnewsTV) — Morocco and Estonia have expressed their determination to deepen bilateral ties and explore new avenues for cooperation across various sectors, according to a joint declaration issued on Monday after a meeting between Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and his Estonian counterpart, Margus Tsahkna.

“The two Ministers welcomed the dynamism characterizing the relations between Morocco and Estonia in recent years and expressed mutual interest in further exploring the potential of their bilateral cooperation,” the declaration said.

Bourita and Tsahkna agreed to hold regular consultations and increase high-level visits across different sectors to enhance coordination. Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic and trade relations between their countries, focusing on fostering a favorable environment for mutual investments and encouraging business actors to seize opportunities within both economies.

Key areas of potential cooperation identified by the ministers include maritime and port infrastructure, education, cultural collaboration in the film industry, agriculture (specifically fertilizers), and tourism development. Legal matters, such as extradition agreements, were also addressed.

The two countries plan to have experts review existing agreements and explore opportunities for new agreements to further boost collaboration. Both sides also praised the establishment of parliamentary friendship groups, acknowledging their role in fostering deeper cultural and human ties.

Estonia expressed support for Morocco’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027-2028 term. Both countries emphasized the importance of cooperation at the international level, particularly in combating hybrid threats and organized crime.

Estonia praised Morocco’s commitment to counterterrorism, while Morocco congratulated Estonia for its digital advancements, including the “Tallinn Manual on the International Law Applicable to Cyber Operations.” Morocco also expressed interest in formalizing partnerships in digitalization and cyber security.

The meeting reflects both nations’ shared commitment to addressing regional and global challenges through enhanced cooperation and dialogue.
