GUSAU, Nigeria (ChatnewsTV) — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) achieved a sweeping victory in Zamfara State’s local government elections, securing all fourteen chairmanship seats and winning every councillorship position across the state. The results were officially announced Sunday morning by the Chairman of the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC), Bala Aliyu.
“The PDP candidates have emerged victorious in all Local Government Areas, including Gusau, Kaura-Namoda, Maru, Talata Mafara, and Anka,” said Aliyu, speaking to journalists shortly after the final collation in Gusau. He praised the election process, describing it as “free, fair, and credible,” and acknowledged the role of security agencies, election officials, and voters in ensuring a successful exercise.
PDP’s representative at the collation center, Wadatau Madawaki, expressed his delight with the outcome, viewing it as a strong endorsement of the party’s leadership and future plans for the state. “This is a resounding endorsement of the PDP’s commitment to the development of Zamfara State,” Madawaki stated, urging the newly elected local government chairmen to align with Governor Dauda Lawal’s Rescue Mission to advance the state’s progress.
Independent observers who monitored the elections noted a largely peaceful atmosphere throughout the state, crediting enhanced security measures for the smooth conduct of the polls. Observers highlighted that improved arrangements allowed voters to participate freely without significant disruptions.
