Baltic Leaders Meet in Vilnius, Reaffirm United Stance on Defense and Support for Ukraine

VILNIUS, Lithuania (CHATNEWSTV) — The leaders of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia reaffirmed their unity on key regional and international issues during a high-level meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania, on Friday. The talks centered on defense, security, and continued support for Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia.

Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė emphasized the Baltic countries’ shared priorities, stating that they remain aligned on matters of critical importance.

“Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia are always on the same page where it matters most,” Šimonytė wrote in a post on X after the meeting. While highlighting key discussion points, “unwavering support to Ukraine’s victory and Euro-Atlantic integration, sanctions, countermeasures to Russia’s hybrid aggression and sabotage, and joint critical infrastructure projects.”

The meeting also involved discussions on the presidency of the Baltic Council of Ministers, which is set to transition to Latvia. Šimonytė extended her gratitude to her Latvian and Estonian counterparts, Prime Minister Evika Siliņa of Latvia and Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal, for their cooperation.

“Godspeed to Latvia as it takes over the presidency of the Baltic Council of Ministers,” she added.

The three Baltic nations have been strong advocates for Ukraine since the onset of Russia’s invasion, pushing for comprehensive sanctions against Moscow and bolstering defense cooperation. The leaders also reviewed efforts to strengthen their collective security in the face of potential Russian aggression, including joint infrastructure projects critical to the region’s resilience.
