A theatre in Magdeburg is to hold a memorial concert on Thursday for victims of the attack on the central German city’s Christmas market.
The traditional Christmas concert at the Magedeburg Theatre is to be changed to reflect on last Friday’s attack, in which five people, including a 9-year-old boy, were killed and about 235 were injured.
The authorities are issuing 200 tickets free of charge to victims, their relatives and emergency services, after consultations with the city’s mayor.
The concert will start with a minute of silence.
Taleb A, a 50-year-old doctor from Saudi Arabia who arrived in Germany in 2006, is being held in connection with the attack, which saw a vehicle evade security bollards before ploughing into the crowd at the Christmas market on the city’s main square.
