WASHINGTON (CHATNEWSTV) — The United States will provide an additional $500 million in military assistance to Ukraine, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on Thursday. The package includes critical air defense systems, munitions, and support equipment as Ukraine continues its defense against Russia’s ongoing aggression.
“This additional assistance underscores our unwavering commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Blinken said in a statement.
The new aid package includes AIM-7, RIM-7, and AIM-9M missiles for air defense, air-to-ground munitions, support equipment for F-16 fighter jets, armored bridging systems, secure communications tools, small arms, ammunition, and related training and transportation services.
Blinken emphasized the global coalition backing Ukraine. “The United States and more than 50 nations stand united to ensure Ukraine has the capabilities it needs to defend itself against Russia’s aggression,” he said.
The announcement builds on the surge in security assistance President Joe Biden outlined in September. U.S. officials reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with international allies to equip Ukraine with the resources needed to sustain its defense efforts.
The $500 million package is funded through drawdowns from Department of Defense stockpiles, demonstrating the urgency of support for Ukraine as it faces continued threats from Russian forces.
