LONDON (CHATNEWSTV) — Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, has once again called for Nigeria’s breakup, citing widespread insecurity, including lack of security at the country’s airports.
In a video shared Thursday, Igboho, who was seen at a UK airport, expressed his frustrations with Nigeria’s security situation, emphasizing that the persistent problems are why various ethnic groups in the country should separate.
“Even inside the airport, there is no security. They can steal your belongings inside your bag,” Igboho said. “All these are the things dissuading people from being proud of the country, Nigeria. Things like that make us sad to identify ourselves as Nigerians.”
Igboho has been a vocal advocate for the secession of the Yoruba people and other ethnic groups from Nigeria for years, citing ongoing challenges, including insecurity and national disunity.
“This is why we advocate for separation. If Nigeria is not working as a country, it is better we go our separate ways,” he added.
Igboho’s comments come after he, alongside other advocates, sent a letter to President Bola Tinubu in April 2024, urging the establishment of a negotiation team to discuss the Yoruba people’s potential exit from Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a separatist group, remains in detention despite calls for his release. The situation has further fueled the debate over Nigeria’s unity and the ongoing secessionist movements.
