BRUSSELS (CHATNEWSTV) — The Council of the European Union has decided to extend by one year the existing restrictive measures against individuals and entities supporting, facilitating, or enabling violent actions by Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). The sanctions, which now remain in effect until January 20, 2026, target 12 individuals and three entities.
These individuals and organizations are subject to an asset freeze, and the provision of funds or resources to them is prohibited. Additionally, listed individuals are banned from traveling to the EU.
The decision follows the EU’s condemnation of the violent actions of Hamas, particularly the attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023. In subsequent months, the EU adopted further restrictive measures, with the European Council calling for more actions against Hamas and PIJ.
“The European Union remains committed to international law and a lasting peace based on the Two-State solution,” the Council emphasized in its statement.
