DAURA, Nigeria — Former President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday said his administration recorded significant achievements in security and the economy, improving conditions compared to when he took office in 2015.
“Nigeria’s security and economy improved significantly under my administration compared to what we met in 2015,” Buhari said while receiving members of the Katsina State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists in Daura.
“Things will continue to improve in Nigeria.”
He blamed the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for leaving behind a struggling economy and security challenges after its 16-year rule, but said his government’s strategies helped curb terrorism and economic hardship.
The Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Yusuf Ibrahim-Jargaba, commended Buhari’s efforts in tackling insecurity and maintaining national unity, calling his leadership “hardworking and selfless.”
