Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a restraining order preventing the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions from proceeding with disciplinary actions against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central.
Presiding Judge Obiora Egwuatu delivered the ruling on Tuesday, following an ex parte application submitted by Akpoti-Uduaghan’s legal team.
The senator had previously been summoned to appear before the Senate’s disciplinary committee after a notable incident on February 20, during which she clashed with Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
During the plenary session, Akpoti-Uduaghan rejected her assigned seat, ignored Akpabio’s directives, and insisted on raising a point of order despite being overruled multiple times. In response to this event, the Senate referred her case to the ethics committee for further review.
In an interview with Arise TV on February 28, Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that her challenges in the Senate escalated following her rejection of alleged s3xual advances from Senate President Akpabio.
