ARUSHA, Tanzania (Chatnewstv.com) — The African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights has postponed the delivery of its long-anticipated ruling in the case of Ado Shaibu & Others v. United Republic of Tanzania, originally scheduled for judgement today June 26, 2025.
In an official notice sighted by Chatnewstv.com and signed by the Registrar, Dr. Robert Eno, the court stated that the decision had been adjourned to a later date, which will be communicated in due course.
“The Registry hereby notifies the Parties that the delivery of the decision in this matter… has been adjourned to a date to be communicated later,” the court wrote in accordance with Rule 90 of its Rules of Court.
The application, filed in 2020 under number 046/2020, was brought by Ado Shaibu and others against the government of Tanzania. The matter involves issues of human rights violations brought before the continental court headquartered in Arusha.
The notification was addressed to the applicants, including Nigerian human rights advocate Prof. Chidi Anselm Odinkalu, whose contact address in Abuja, Nigeria, is listed in the document.
The African Court, an organ of the African Union, is responsible for ensuring the protection of human and peoples’ rights across the continent.
