Akwa Ibom Governor Signs ₦955 Billion 2025 Budget into Law

UYO, Nigeria (CHATNEWSTV) — Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno on Monday signed the ₦955 billion 2025 Budget of Consolidation and Expansion into law, pledging continued collaboration between the executive and legislature to deliver democratic dividends.

The signing ceremony, held at the State Executive Council Chambers in Uyo, was attended by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Udeme Otong, members of the State Executive Council, and some lawmakers.

“I commend the House of Assembly for the swift passage of the budget,” Eno said. “This synergy between the executive and legislature is critical for achieving our collective goals for the state.”

The budget, passed by the State House of Assembly on December 24, allocates ₦300 billion to recurrent expenditure and ₦655 billion to capital projects. It represents a 3% increase from the ₦923.41 billion revised budget of 2024.

Lawmakers adopted the report of the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance, Dr. Itoro Etim, before dissolving into the Committee of the Whole to finalize deliberations. The bill was subsequently passed into law after its third reading.

Governor Eno emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration between the arms of government to ensure effective implementation of the budget.

“With this budget, we aim to consolidate on past achievements and expand on initiatives that will improve the lives of our people,” he added.
