The all-new sixth-generation Nissan MICRA, now a fully electric vehicle (EV), was unveiled today ahead of its European launch later this year. Designed specifically with European customers in mind, the MICRA returns to the popular B-segment with a fresh look, agile performance, and advanced technology — all wrapped in a compact urban-friendly package.
“The exterior has an audacious and playful appearance on first look but has a stance which gives it a solid presence on the road,” said Giovanny Arroba, Vice President of Nissan Design Europe. “We’ve also been able to integrate delightful details into the design, which owners will love. We’re proud to have been able to bring the MICRA into the EV age.”
The new MICRA sports a distinctive SUV-inspired design, with simple, uncluttered surfaces, and details like 18-inch wheels and bold wheel arch trims that create a strong road presence. Iconic headlamps greet drivers with a choreographed “welcome wink” lighting sequence, while the rear taillamps feature intricate circular LED elements. Buyers can choose from 14 exterior color combinations, including two-tone options with black or grey roofs.
Inside, the MICRA combines understated elegance with subtle Japanese-inspired touches. The interior includes a three-spoke steering wheel, a 10.1-inch configurable digital display behind it, and a wide 10.1-inch touchscreen on the dashboard. Seating options vary across three trims—Modern, Audacious, and Chill—offering a premium feel for all preferences.
Measuring under four meters in length and less than 1.8 meters wide, the MICRA is tailored for urban driving. A 2.54-meter wheelbase maximizes interior space and improves handling and stability. The five-door model offers 326 liters of trunk space, surpassing many rivals in the compact segment.
As Nissan’s first fully electric MICRA, the vehicle offers two battery options: a 40kWh pack with a range of up to 308 km and a 52kWh pack with a range up to 408 km (all figures subject to homologation). “When done cutting a swathe through busy streets, drivers can escape to the country without range anxiety,” Nissan said.
Charging is quick and convenient, with a 100kW DC fast charger allowing the 52kWh battery to charge from 15% to 80% in just 30 minutes. The MICRA also features a heat pump and battery heating/cooling systems to maximize efficiency. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology lets owners power external devices directly from the car’s battery.
Performance is responsive and efficient thanks to a lightweight design—1,400 kg for the smaller battery and 1,524 kg for the larger—and advanced suspension setups typically found in higher segments, including independent front struts and multi-link rear geometry. This provides a dynamic ride and precise handling.
On the tech front, NissanConnect with Google built-in services integrates seamless connectivity, with features accessible via the NissanConnect app including battery status, car location, and remote climate and charging controls.
Safety remains a top priority, with Nissan ProPilot assist and a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems available to ensure driver and passenger peace of mind.
Sales of the all-new Nissan MICRA EV will begin across Europe later this year.
