TALLINN — Ambassadors from various countries gathered in Tallinn to bid farewell to Kaja Kallas, the former Estonian Prime Minister, as she prepares to step into her new position as the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
In a post on X on Monday, British Ambassador to Estonia, Ross Allen, expressed his appreciation for Kallas’ leadership and cooperation.
“Delighted to have the chance to say ‘aitäh’ (thank you) and ‘kivi kotti’ (good luck) to Kaja Kallas,” Allen wrote.
“We all wish you every success when you start your new role soon,” he added.
Also, David Kral, the Czech Ambassador to Estonia and Dean of the Tallinn Diplomatic Corps, while posting on X, praised her collaborative spirit during her time as Prime Minister.
“It was a great privilege to address Kaja Kallas on behalf of the Diplomatic Corps at her farewell in Estonia,” Kral said.
“I thanked her for the wonderful cooperation with ambassadors during her premiership and wished her all the best in her new quest as EU High Representative.”
Eugen Caras, the Moldovan Ambassador to Estonia, echoed similar sentiments on his timeline on X, expressing hope that Kallas’ leadership would continue to support Moldova’s aspirations.
“I had the opportunity to wish good luck to Kaja Kallas for the upcoming mandate,” said Caras.
“Reiterated that Moldova counts on the support of Estonia and the EU for our European integration.”
The farewell event, hosted by the European Commission’s representation in Estonia, marked a moment of recognition for Kallas’ contributions at the national level as she prepares to take on a strategic role in EU foreign policy.
