Renowned Beninese singer and global music icon Angélique Kidjo is set to make history in 2026 as the first African artist to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The five-time Grammy Award winner was announced as one of the recipients of the prestigious honour by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, alongside international entertainers such as Miley Cyrus, Timothée Chalamet, and Shaquille O’Neal.
With a career spanning over four decades, Kidjo has emerged as one of Africa’s most formidable musical exports, known for her distinctive voice and eclectic style that blends Afrobeat, traditional West African music, funk, jazz, and Latin influences. Her discography includes acclaimed albums such as: Logozo (1991), Black Ivory Soul (2002), Eve (2014), Celia (2019), Mother Nature (2021), which won a Grammy Award
Kidjo’s music has not only earned her international recognition but has also helped introduce African rhythms to mainstream audiences worldwide.
In recent years, she has collaborated with emerging African talents, including: Burna Boy and Yemi Alade on “Mother Nature”, Mr Eazi and Davido on subsequent projects, Davido on the hit single “Na Money” (2023), she released “Joy”, a vibrant pan-African anthem celebrating unity and resilience (2024)
Beyond her music, Kidjo is a committed humanitarian, serving as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and founder of the Batonga Foundation, which advocates for the education and empowerment of adolescent girls in sub-Saharan Africa.
