ABUJA, Nigeria (Chatnewstv.com) — After more than a decade of active service, a prominent member of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress, Barr. Rahmatullah Goldfish Ilavbare, announced her resignation from the party Monday, citing personal commitments and a decision to pursue national development from outside partisan politics.
In a resignation letter dated Oct. 20, 2025, Ilavbare expressed gratitude to the APC leadership for the opportunity to serve in various capacities, describing her 11 years in the party as a period of loyalty and dedication to its ideals.
Her decision, she explained, was driven by a need to focus on her studies, her growing family, and the restructuring of her law firm.
“I have come to realize that my vision for a ‘Greater Nigeria’ can best be achieved by adopting an apolitical stance,” Ilavbare stated in the letter.
During her time with the APC, Ilavbare was a fixture in major campaign efforts, serving as a member of the Presidential Campaign Councils in 2015, 2019, and 2023. At the state level in Edo, her roles included Deputy Women Leader for Owan East Local Government Area, a member of the 2020 Gubernatorial Campaign Council, and Deputy Director of the Welfare Committee in the 2024 Gubernatorial Campaign Council. She also served as a National Delegate during the 2022 Presidential Primary Election.
While stepping away from the party, Ilavbare voiced her continued support for the nation’s leadership, expressing optimism in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. She said she believes the president “will set Nigeria on the path of greatness.”
She concluded her letter with a patriotic reflection on the National Anthem, urging Nigerians to uphold truth, justice, and integrity as core values for the nation’s progress.
