The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has alleged that he has received over 400 threats, including at least 200 death threats, following comments he made about Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate.
Morka made the revelation during an appearance on Arise Television on Wednesday, claiming that the threats were a result of Obi’s accusation that his remarks in a previous interview posed a threat to the Labour Party candidate’s life.
“Peter Obi’s allegations that my words in that interview threatened his life have triggered serious consequences,” Morka said. “As of now, I have documented 400 threats, about 200 of which are explicit death threats. These are written threats that I will be submitting to law enforcement agencies.
“In these messages, individuals have detailed how they plan to harm me—threatening to shoot me, behead me, and carry out other gruesome acts.”
The controversy stems from a statement Morka made during an earlier interview where he said: “Obi has crossed the line so many times. Whatever he has coming to him, he should manage it.”
Obi, in turn, alleged that Morka’s comments incited threats against his life and those of his associates.
However, Morka clarified that his remarks were in response to questions about Obi being labeled a “voodoo economist and prophet of doom” and were not intended as a threat.
The APC spokesman urged law enforcement agencies to investigate the threats and ensure the safety of all parties involved, emphasizing the need for responsible political discourse.
