ABUJA (CHATNEWSTV) — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is “fully engaged” in the country’s governance despite working remotely from Europe, the Nigerian presidency said Thursday, amid growing public speculation about his continued absence from Abuja.
“President Tinubu remains fully engaged in Nigeria’s governance even though he is away in Europe,” said Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. “His absence remains temporary and in line with the communicated timeframe of approximately two weeks.”
According to the statement, Tinubu left Paris for London over the weekend and has remained in “constant communication” with key government officials, including directing Nigeria’s security chiefs to address recent threats across the country.
The statement did not specify the exact date of Tinubu’s return but noted it would come “following the conclusion of the Easter holiday.”
Onanuga added that the president’s commitment to his duties is “unwavering,” and assured the public that governance continues without disruption.
“We appreciate the public’s concern and assure all Nigerians that governance proceeds without interruption,” he said.
While the presidency has emphasized continuity and remote leadership, critics on social media have continued to question the transparency of Tinubu’s travel and the absence of public appearances during his time abroad.
