BAUCHI, Nigeria (Chatnewstv.com) — Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party’s decision to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the south, saying the move is aimed at strengthening national unity.
The PDP National Executive Committee, the party’s highest decision-making body, voted Monday to retain the party chairmanship in the north while throwing the presidential race open to the south.
“I am very satisfied with the resolution because I am part and parcel of it, from the arrangement, strategy, and delivery,” Mohammed told reporters Tuesday in Bauchi.
He said politics should be guided by unity rather than personal ambition. “We have taken an all-inclusive decision to hold our convention in Ibadan, Oyo state, on November 15, and another NEC meeting on October 15,” he said. “We also agreed to maintain the existing zoning arrangement for party offices and to zone the presidential ticket to the south in order to promote sanity, understanding, and unity.”
Mohammed added that politics should not be reduced to individual gain. “Everything is predicated on sacrifice, not self-interest. We must live and let live,” he said, urging PDP members to show mutual respect and remember that “ultimate power comes from God.”
