Agency Report –
Leverkusen, Germany – After clarifying the future of midfielder Jamal Musiala, Bayern Munich are hopeful that Joshua Kimmich will also make a decision soon.
“We’re in good talks with Jo. It’s a very important decision for hum. But it certainly won’t take forever and a decision will be made soon, I’m positive,” sporting director Christoph Freund said after the goalless draw at Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
Bayern said on Friday that they extended Musiala’s contract until 2030. Now they have to deal with Kimmich’s situation, as his deal expires at the end of the season.
According to media reports, top international clubs are interested in signing the player.
Midfielder Kimmich told broadcasters ZDF that his decision doesn’t depend on individual players, but it was important for him to see what’s happening at the club when it comes to personnel issues.
“The picture is becoming clearer, we’ve extended a few contracts. Nevertheless, I’m not making it dependent on individual players,” he said.
Bayern have also recently handed new contracts to goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (until 2026) and defender Alphonso Davis (until 2030).
Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl is also hopeful that Kimmich will make his decision soon.
“We know exactly what we want, Josh knows what we want. He wants to stay at Bayern, he wants to win the Champions League. If he didn’t want to stay, we wouldn’t be in conversations,” Eberl told broadcasters Sky.
