British- Nigerian, Kemi Badenoch Becomes First Black Leader of A Major British Political

LONDON — Kemi Badenoch has been elected leader of the Conservative Party, pledging to bring a renewed focus to the party’s vision and goals.

In a statement shared on social media, Badenoch expressed gratitude for the support she received from party members, calling it “an honor and a privilege” to lead. “A party that I love, that has given me so much,” she wrote, emphasizing her deep connection to the Conservative cause.

Badenoch also extended praise to Robert Jenrick, her primary opponent in the leadership race, commending him for a “great campaign.” She added, “I have no doubt he will have a key role to play in our party for many years to come.”

Badenoch’s election marks a new chapter for the Conservatives, with the new leader stating, “It is time to get down to business. It is time to renew.”
