The family of Herbert Wigwe, the former Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, has released the burial arrangements for the late businessman. Wigwe tragically died in a fatal helicopter crash along with his wife, son, and Mr Abimbola Ogunbanjo, a former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group. The incident occurred when their Eurocopter EC 130 was en route to Las Vegas, crashing near a border city between Nevada and California.
The funeral proceedings will commence with a celebration of Wigwe’s professional legacy at the Eko Hotel in Lagos on March 4. The lives of Chizi and Chizoba Wigwe will be celebrated in separate ceremonies scheduled for March 5 at the same venue, followed by a night of tributes a day later.
A combined service of songs will be held on March 7 at the RCCG, Resurrection Parish, Lekki, followed by a Christian wake-keeping at Wigwe University, Isiokpo, Ikwerre LGA, Rivers. The combined funeral and private interment service are scheduled for March 9.
The funeral will conclude with an outing service at the Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG), Lion of Judah Parish, Isiokpo, Ikwerre LGA, Rivers, on March 10.
The City of David parish of the RCCG was notably excluded from the burial programme. This follows a controversy where the senior pastor’s wife, Siju Iluyoma, held a birthday party shortly after Wigwe’s demise. Critics argued that Iluyoma, who was considered a spiritual mother to the Wigwe family, should have postponed her celebration due to the unfortunate incident.
