Nigerian singer Burna Boy has explained his decision to kick a fan during his performance at the 2025 Lagos Countdown concert.
The incident, which was captured in a video that has since gone viral, showed the artist abruptly leaving the stage after a fan attempted to touch him.
Following the event, many social media users voiced their disapproval, labeling Burna Boy as the “most arrogant Nigerian artiste.”
In response to the backlash, he addressed the situation through an Instagram story on Wednesday evening, revealing that he suffers from PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder).
He urged his fans to refrain from jumping on stage during his performances, highlighting the importance of personal boundaries for artists.
“It was a free show. I was supposed to do 10 minutes and did almost one hour. Everybody knows my rule about getting on stage and startling me when I’m performing.
“I had an amazing time with Lagos State last night. Don’t jump on my stage like that! I got PTSD. I love you all. Happy new year,” he said.
PTSD is a psychological condition that can occur after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event, leading to significant distress and anxiety.
