CASABLANCA, Morocco (chatnewstv.com) — The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Saturday dismissed allegations of unfair treatment from the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), insisting that the tournament favorites have been provided with every requested accommodation ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations final.
The official statement from Africa’s football governing body follows a period of public tension regarding the Teranga Lions’ preparations for the championship match in Morocco. Senegalese officials had reportedly raised concerns over hotel quality, training pitch conditions, and ticket allocations for their supporters.
“CAF has noted statements attributed to Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF) in relation to their logistics ahead of the Final,” the organization said in a media release. “Fédération Sénégalaise de Football was given an opportunity to select a hotel for its Team ahead of the Final and this was granted.”
Dispute Over Training Facilities
Addressing specific complaints about the quality of the training grounds assigned to the defending champions, CAF officials noted that they moved quickly to satisfy the Senegalese delegation’s demands.
“When Senegal raised dissatisfaction in relation to the training facility, CAF immediately contacted the Local Organising Committee (LOC) to accommodate Senegal’s request of an alternative training field,” the statement continued. “This has been resolved.”
The governing body also addressed the thorny issue of ticketing, which has become a flashpoint for fans traveling from Dakar. CAF clarified that the FSF received its standard regulatory quota of tickets for the final, despite calls from Senegalese officials for an increased allotment to accommodate high demand.
Commitment to Fairness
The rift had threatened to overshadow the buildup to what is expected to be one of the most-watched sporting events in the continent’s history. CAF emphasized that its primary goal is maintaining a level playing field for both finalists.
“The Confédération Africaine de Football is committed to the principles of fairness, transparency and strict adherence to CAF Regulations,” the body stated. “CAF, working together with the Local Organising Committee, has ensured that all Teams are subjected to the same conditions.”
CAF added that FSF President Abdoulaye Fall remains in “regular contact” with tournament leadership to iron out any remaining friction before kickoff.
The final of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 is set to be broadcast in 180 territories globally.
