Canada To Impose $1,000 Fines On Anyone Who Removes Posters Of Israeli Hostage

The money collected through the fines will be donated to Israel.

The city of Hampstead will impose $1,000 fines on anyone who removes posters of Israeli hostages, its mayor wrote on social media last week.

Yair Szlak, the president and CEO of Federation CJA said there have been numerous reports of posters being taken down in spots around Montreal.

Szlak condemned those who would do such a thing.

“When you remove a poster of a 9-month-old child, you are cancelling his life, and saying it’s not worth anything,” he said Thursday.

Posting on social media, Hampstead Mayor Jeremy Levi said the council will adopt a bylaw that will impose a $1,000 fine to anyone who removes a poster of Israeli hostages from public property. Levi added that the money collected through the fines will be donated to Israel.
