LAGOS, Nigeria (Chatnewstv.com) — Nigerian entertainer and activist Charly Boy has warned politicians against manipulating the 2027 general elections, describing the vote as a turning point for the country.
Speaking on 90 Minutes Africa with Rudolf Okonkwo, the 73-year-old performer, popularly known as Area Fada, declared that the election slogan would be “rig and die.”
“The 2027 election will be a defining moment for Nigeria. Anybody that plans to rig should be ready to die. It is rig and die,” Charly Boy said. “Because by that time, our eye go clear well well. E don clear small o. What we are about to see in 2026 will make Nigerians decide whether to continue in this manner or to cause a revolution to happen in this country.”
He stressed that credible elections are essential to addressing governance failures.
“The solution to bad governance in Nigeria can only come when our votes begin to count. So, our concern right now should be how our votes would count in 2027,” he said.
Charly Boy also criticized the Lagos State Government’s recent decision to rename Charly Boy Bus Stop in Bariga, calling it “outright silly and a bloody distraction.”
He said his main priority remains finding ways to “rescue millions of Nigerians who go to bed hungry every day.”
