PARIS — The Coalition of the Willing has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ukraine and increasing pressure on Russia until the war comes to an end, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Thursday following a high-level summit in Paris.
Speaking ahead of his meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the British Embassy, Zelenskyy emphasized that continued military aid, sanctions enforcement, and security guarantees were at the core of discussions among allied leaders.
“Russia Does Not Want Peace”
A key takeaway from the summit, according to Zelenskyy, was the confirmation that sanctions against Russia will remain in place until the war ends.
“This is critically important – everyone understands that today, Russia does not want peace,” Zelenskyy said. “And in the coming weeks and days, we will continue working on security guarantees. I believe this is essential not only for today, but also for our future.”
Zelenskyy also praised France and the United Kingdom for their leadership within the coalition, which has been instrumental in providing Ukraine with vital military and economic support.
Starmer: “Russia Is Playing for Time”
Echoing Zelenskyy’s stance, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer underscored the coalition’s resolve to achieve peace through strength, warning against complacency.
“Russia is playing for time, playing games – and we must be clear-eyed about that,” Starmer said.
The summit also resulted in an agreement to increase support for Ukraine, ensuring it maintains the strongest possible position both militarily and diplomatically.
“And of course, we discussed further plans to secure peace, the activities of the Coalition of the Willing, as well as military and operational plans – on land, in the air, and at sea,” Starmer added.
As the war grinds on, Ukraine and its allies continue to push for greater military assistance and long-term security commitments, while maintaining pressure on Moscow through economic sanctions and diplomatic isolation.
