LAGOS, Nigeria (Chatnewstv.com) — The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced a series of major drug busts across Nigeria, including the interception of a significant cocaine consignment bound for London and the raid of a high-profile Lagos nightclub where a “drug party” was underway.
NDLEA operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos uncovered 70 parcels of cocaine on Oct. 14, 2025, that were factory-packed inside the walls of cocoa butter body cream containers. The cocaine weighed 3.60 kilograms.
Following the discovery, a cargo agent, Lawal Mustapha Olakunle, was arrested. A two-week investigation led to the arrest of two principal suspects linked to the export attempt: female healthcare worker Ogunmuyide Taiwo Deborah and Mutiu Adebayo Adebiyi, the CEO of a travel agency, who was detained at his Ikeja GRA office on Oct. 20.
Club Owner ‘Pretty Mike’ Arrested in Lagos Raid
In a separate operation in Lagos, NDLEA operatives in the early hours of Sunday, Oct. 26, raided Proxy Night club on Victoria Island. The raid, which followed intelligence reports of a “drug party,” led to the arrest of over 100 suspects, including the club owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, known as “Pretty Mike.”
The agency recovered cartons of illicit substances, including Loud (a potent strain of cannabis) and laughing gas, from suspects and the club’s store.
“NDLEA operatives who were embedded in the party between 11 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 25 however disrupted the gathering at 3 a.m. on Sunday Oct. 26 based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs),” the agency’s Director of Media & Advocacy Femi Babafemi said in a statement.

The agency also targeted vulnerable communities and older Nigerians involved in drug trafficking:

The NDLEA also reported seizing a large cache of arms and ammunition in Zamfara State. Operatives arrested Abubakar Ibrahim, 30, on Oct. 20 in possession of an AK-47 rifle and 1,746 assorted calibers of ammunition for AK-47 and GPMG rifles, which he was transporting from Sokoto to the Bagega forest in Anka Local Government Area. The suspect and exhibits have been handed over to the appropriate security agency for further investigation.
Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, commended the officers for the multiple arrests and seizures, urging them to “continue with the ongoing balanced approach to the drug control efforts of the Agency,” which includes intensive public sensitization programs.
