Dahiru Barau Foundation Sponsors Urology Surgery of 80 Patients In Katsina

An NGO, Dahiru Barau Mangal Foundation, has sponsored the surgery of more than 80 patients with urology problems in Katsina State.

A member of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the foundation, Hussaini Kabir, disclosed this during the exercise at Amadi Rimi Orthopedic Hospital in Katsina on Tuesday.

He disclosed that such free medical surgeries have been going on for a long time, especially in every quarter of the year, as the foundation has earmarked funds for such.

Mr Kabir said that some of the illnesses the foundation was sponsoring their treatment for the 3rd quarter of the year, included hernia and band hydrocele, for patients who were mostly vulnerable.

According to him, the screening for the medical outreach is ongoing, explaining that those with minor problems would be treated, provided with free drugs and discharged.

“Those we screen and find out that they need surgeries, the foundation has paid for them, including other expenses until they are discharged from the hospital.

“The foundation has engaged the best medical team and procured high quality drugs and medical equipment for the surgery,” he said.

Mr Kabir added that the foundation was exclusively for empowerment, development, educational, charitable purposes, supporting the poor and vulnerable in the area of healthcare and economic skills.

He further revealed that the foundation, initiated in 2016, had also sponsored surgical operations of thousands of patients across Katsina, neighbouring states and Niger Republic.

Some of the patients interviewed, commended the gesture, and called on the government, private organisations and other wealthy individuals to emulate it.

Badamasi Alhaji, one of the patients, said he really suffered from an illness, adding, ”but thank God, i am now feeling much better after the surgery.”

He commended the foundation for sponsoring the surgery, saying, “I almost gave up, because I could not sponsor myself for the treatment.”

Another patient, Muhammad Adamu, said for the past two years he has been suffering with hernia, until when the foundation came to his aid.

He called on other wealthy individuals, politicians and government to emulate the foundation.
