Dangote Refinery Exports First Petrol Shipment to Cameroon

LAGOS, Nigeria (CHATNEWSTV) — Dangote Petroleum Refinery has exported its first shipment of premium motor spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to Cameroon in partnership with Cameroonian energy firm Neptune Oil. The milestone marks a new chapter in regional energy integration, the companies announced Wednesday.

“This landmark move underscores the commitment of both Dangote Refinery and Neptune Oil to addressing the region’s growing energy demands while strengthening economic ties between Nigeria and Cameroon,” the refinery said in a statement.

Strengthening Regional Energy Security
The shipment, facilitated by Africa’s largest oil refinery, highlights Nigeria’s potential to meet domestic energy needs and become a key player in the regional energy market.

“This development represents a significant step forward in accessing high-quality and locally sourced petroleum products for Cameroon,” the statement added.

The collaboration between the two firms will not end with this initial export, according to the companies. Plans are underway to establish a reliable supply chain aimed at stabilizing fuel prices and fostering economic opportunities across the region.

Leaders Hail Milestone
Aliko Dangote, president and CEO of Dangote Group, called the export a practical demonstration of his vision for a united, energy-independent Africa.

“With this development, we are laying the foundation for a future where African resources are refined and exchanged within the continent for the benefit of our people,” Dangote said.

Antoine Ndzengue, director and owner of Neptune Oil, emphasized the importance of the partnership for Cameroon’s energy security.

“By becoming the first importer of petroleum products from this world-class refinery, we are bolstering our country’s energy security and supporting local economic development,” Ndzengue said.

He noted that the supply, executed without international intermediaries, demonstrates the companies’ dedication to independently and efficiently serving African markets.

The collaboration between Dangote Refinery and Neptune Oil is expected to create new economic opportunities and enhance energy access for the region in the years to come.
