Agency Report –
The 34-year-old woman was sentenced to two years and six months in prison for supporting a terrorist organization, the judge said.
A co-defendant, aged 52 at the start of the trial, was found guilty of membership in a terrorist organization and preparing treason, and sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.
The verdict is not yet final.
The woman had posted comments in chat groups and allowed her father – a convicted member of the group – to use her car for meetings, the judge said, while the accused man had agreed to scout targets for attacks on the power grid and recruit others.
The Koblenz Higher Regional Court in western Germany previously sentenced five members of the group to several years in prison, including the woman’s father.
The group planned a coup in 2022 to overthrow the German government, cripple the country’s power supply, kidnap Health Minister Karl Lauterbach and introduce a new constitution modelled on the German Empire of 1871.
