Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), has resigned. Reliable sources revealed that he submitted his resignation at the Presidential Villa on Saturday.
Insiders say the resignation is part of President Tinubu’s plan to restructure the country’s security system in response to rising insecurity.
Mr. Abubakar was first appointed as the head of the NIA in April 2017 by the Buhari administration after the former acting director-general, Mohammed Dauda, was removed.
