Brussels (ChatnewsTV) – The foreign ministers of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom (E3) have strongly condemned Iran’s transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia, describing the move as a dangerous escalation of Iran’s military support for Russia’s war in Ukraine.
In a joint statement released on Tuesday, the E3 warned of immediate retaliatory measures, including sanctions and the cancellation of bilateral agreements with Tehran.
“This is a further escalation of Iran’s military support to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, and will see Iranian missiles reaching European soil, increasing the suffering of the Ukrainian people,” the E3 ministers said in a statement. “This act is a direct threat to European security.”
The E3 governments confirmed that they had received evidence of Iranian missile transfers to Russia, following months of warnings that such actions would trigger serious consequences. The statement emphasized that the E3 had been clear both privately and publicly that they would take significant measures if these transfers were confirmed.
“We will be taking immediate steps to cancel bilateral air services agreements with Iran,” the ministers announced. In addition, the E3 will move to impose sanctions on key entities and individuals involved in Iran’s ballistic missile program and the weapons transfer to Russia. Among the targeted actions is a potential sanction against Iran Air.
The statement also emphasized the coordinated nature of the E3’s response. “We are closely coordinating our strong response to these transfers with our European and international partners,” the ministers added, while urging Iran to immediately halt its support of Russia’s war effort and cease the development and transfer of ballistic missiles.
The E3’s move comes amid mounting international concerns about Iran’s growing involvement in the conflict, and fears that the missile transfers could further destabilize the region.
