The foreign ministers of France, Germany, and the UK (E3) have expressed deep concern over Israel’s decision to halt the entry of goods and supplies into Gaza, warning that such action could violate international humanitarian law.
In a joint statement, the ministers reaffirmed their support for the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, emphasizing that “it is vital that the ceasefire is sustained, all hostages are released, and humanitarian aid continues to flow into Gaza.” They urged all parties to engage constructively in negotiations for a permanent end to hostilities.
The E3 ministers welcomed mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to extend the truce. However, they criticized Israel’s March 2 decision to cut off essential supplies, including medical equipment, shelter, and water sanitation items, due to restrictions under Israel’s “dual-use” list.
“Humanitarian aid should never be contingent on a ceasefire or used as a political tool.”
“We call on the Government of Israel to abide by its international obligations,” the statement read, stressing that “the civilians of Gaza who have suffered so much must be allowed to return to their homes and rebuild their lives.”
The ministers also condemned Hamas’s continued captivity of Israeli hostages, demanding their “unconditional release” and an end to their “degrading and humiliating treatment.”
Reiterating their commitment to a two-state solution, the E3 called for a lasting peace that would ensure both Israelis and Palestinians “can live side by side in peace.”
