Edo State Governor Appoints Sulaiman Aledeh as New EBS Managing Director

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has appointed Sulaiman Aledeh as the new Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), the state’s public media organization.

Fred Itua, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, announced the appointment in a statement, noting that it takes effect immediately.

“Aledeh is an international journalist, as well as a strategic media and communication consultant,” Itua said. He highlighted that Aledeh brings over two decades of broadcast journalism experience across both radio and television.

The newly appointed managing director, a graduate of Philosophy from the University of Benin, began his career at Edo Broadcasting Service while still a student. Over the years, he has contributed to major international media outlets, including Al Jazeera, SABC, and GB News UK.

“He later served at Ebonyi Radio during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, becoming the first corps member permitted to read the station’s major news bulletin,” Itua said.

Aledeh’s career trajectory includes notable stints at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria and prominent roles in national television. “His journey into national television began with one of Africa’s foremost media companies, where he anchored flagship news programs on TVC and Channels Television,” Itua stated.

During his time at Channels TV, Aledeh covered major events such as the 2011 and 2015 general elections, further solidifying his reputation in broadcast journalism. He also led media strategies at Eko DISCO, Nigeria’s largest electricity distribution company, as the Assistant General Manager and Head of Media and Communications.

Aledeh’s qualifications extend to a Master’s Degree in Humanitarian and Refugee Studies from the University of Lagos. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management and an Associate of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.

“He has served as a Special Correspondent and News Anchor at Arise News in London and Lagos, and currently anchors various news programs on Arise News and shares his insights on Classic FM,” Itua added.
